feed the good

None of us are perfect. Each one of us has good and bad habits. The trick to getting ahead and having a happy and healthy life is to consciously choose to feed and obey our strengths and good habits – to align with our higher self. It takes discipline for sure, but worth all efforts.
Becoming lazy is so very easy to do. Slacking off one day from your exercise routine, your diet, meditation practice can seem easily justifiable – what’s one day? But, if we are not careful that one day slippage can become a month or even ten years. Right? And this is exactly how weakness, your inner saboteur, your lower self works to keep you down and stuck.
See, life is a game. To break it down into very simplistic terms, there are two forces looking to take control of your life. The lower self wants to keep you weak, stunted and never reach your full potential and happiness. This is just the lower self’s job and role in the game. The higher self, your divine and true self, wants to keep you on track and experience all of the joy that is your birthright. Life is a gift. The lower self wants to steal that gift, by corrupting you. It will trick you into believing life is pointless, so you may as well waste it away in laziness, ego-centric craziness, selfishness and meaningless sex, drugs and corruption.
There is an old Native American story that talk about this same sort of concept, about there being inner two wolves competing for your life. The one that wins, is the one you feed. You can read this story by clicking here.
We all start out as pure love, light and potential. But then, life kicks in; the game begins. All kinds of events occur to try and knock us off course, to steal our love, light and happiness and sink us into the darkness. Once in the darkness, if not aware of the game, we can forget our dreams. We get stuck, hurt, angry, hateful and lost – and so we never reach our full potential and promised land.
The good news is, that once we become aware of the game we can start to take control. We take control by our choices. We choose to align with the divine. We choose to feed our strengths. We choose to win. We choose to go towards the love and light versus the darkness, no matter what. If we do fall into darkness, it is temporary, because we assess our life and simply choose to get up outta the mud and get going. We remember that love is the light and exit out from any and all downfalls.

The beauty of it all is, is that it is never too late! You may have been hoodwinked by the illusion and lies of your lower self that you suck, are a lost cause, and will never amount to anything, but you can choose to stop believing all this crap. You can choose to starve out this inner enemy, by simply ignoring him, and taking back the driver’s seat of your life. You can choose to remember the truth, that you are awesome.
Will it be easy? Probably not. Especially if you have been listening to and obeying your weaknesses for a very long time. But, the sooner you get started, the sooner you are on your way. Just start small. One 15-minute walk around the block is better than nothing. That short walk, defies and disobeys your lower self, giving the power over to the better you. One refusal to eat that doughnut, to drink that shot, smoke that joint, continue in a destructive relationship, or feed into negative thinking, takes power away from the lower self and builds up your higher self. For every step and effort you make in the right direction, the Universe, which is one with your higher self, swoops in to help you out, to keep you on track. Each day of disobedience towards your weakness gets easier. Go towards the light! Like an energy-draining vampire, weakness cannot survive in love and light.
Feed and strengthen the higher self so that it becomes your dominant self and expression. Feed yourself higher thoughts like, I rock! I love myself. Use the magic and power of I AM; I am smart. I am disciplined. I am able to accomplish everything I put my mind to. I am unique and gifted. I have been created to do something no one else can do. I think I am awesome, therefore I am! I love my life. Life is good. Good things are flowing to me, because I am focused on the good. I increase whatever I focus on. God/Universe loves me and wants the best for me. By your words you are justified.
It becomes easier to believe all this, if every day you do something, no matter how small, to prove your statements to be true. The mind, body and spirit must all be aligned to achieve the same goal. Exercising. Cleaning up your house. Throwing out crap that belongs to your weaker self – junk food, bottles of booze, the bong, the photos and phone number of the no-good lover. Opening up the windows and letting in the light. Pulling out all the weeds from the garden. Eating well. Being loving and kind to yourself and all others. Starting that project you’ve been procrastinating on – even the smallest step is a step forward. Doesn’t matter how slow you go, you will complete it faster than doing nothing at all.
We receive what we believe. If you have to believe in something, why not believe that you can change and that wonderful and happy things are possible, even for you? Where has believing that you are bad, useless and not good enough gotten you? Where have your bad habits and negative thinking driven you? Right. So, why not choose to believe the opposite? What have you got to lose by believing in good? Believe life is good, and ding, it is! As you think, so it is. Change your mind and you change your life. It may not be easy, but it really is that simple.
There was a part of me that wanted to slack off on this newsletter. But, that made me feel bad about myself, and I could feel the negativity rippling into other areas of my day. It took some motivation. It took me just opening up a blank word doc and saying to myself, out loud, “I am going to write this newsletter, I am divinely inspired!” That small action of defying my inner enemy opened up the gateway. I did my part, and then sure enough, the Universe swooped in to help me out. The newsletter wrote itself and I immediately felt much better about myself.
Feeling good and strong about ourselves rocks, which then attracts more episodes and experiences that rock. ;0
